OUR STRAWBALE HOUSE PLANS - NORTH ELEVATION
The north elevation is critical to passive solar design as this is the direction of the low winter sun.
It is largely glazed to use this sun to heat the house. Large eaves provide shade from the higher summer sun
to prevent overheating. This system works best where there are internal materials providing thermal mass such
as concrete or stone which can store heat during the day and radiate at night.
