Welcome to our website. This site is here to record our latest venture - building our straw bale house.

We purchased our block of land in December 2006. It is 74 acres of beautiful Box Ironbark Forest at Dunach between Clunes and Talbot in the Central Golfields region of Victoria, Australia.

We are currently going through the process of getting our planning permit. In parallel we are designing our house and our latest design can be seen on this page.

We have been working on this design for some time now but continue to fine tune things! The design is heavily based on sustainability and passive solar principles. Power will be provided by photovoltaic cells, water collected in tanks from the roof run-off and waste is processed by a worm farm treatment plant.

Box Ironbark forest is endangered and our land is a fine example of this type of woodland. There is prolific bird and animal life on the block and a good variety of native plantlife too. We have registered as Land for Wildlife and we plan to protect this block of land for perpetuity by placing a Trust for Nature Covenanant on it.
