HOW DID WE COME TO BUY THE LAND?

We both love the great outdoors and have a strong desire to see the environment protected and enhanced for present and future generations. After reading the inspirational book The Sustainable House by Michael Mobbs we investigated whether we could convert our house in Altona. We made a start by installing a solar water heater but soon realised that retrofitting a house in a fairly industrial area was going to be quite difficult.

One day Alex was trawling the web and came across a fabulous looking bush property at Terip Terip and the idea was born to start from a blank canvas away from the city. This block was sold shortly afterwards but we spent the next few months looking around many block before we happened upon the one we finally bought. Through the searching process we realised that there is a distinct correlation between price and the distance from the city. We ended up paying a bit more than we had planned for our block but with the benefit of hindsight we know we made the right decision as we regularly make day-trips that would have been infeasible for some of the more distant but cheaper blocks we inspected.
